Therefore, in this research, we examine whether it is possible to reduce the number of non-earnest responses and improve the quality of the survey by presenting open-ended questions at the beginning of the survey and allowing those who give non-earnest responses to leave in the beginning, when they have less resistance to leaving. Specifically, we conducted a crowdsourcing experiment to examine the effect of the position of open-ended questions in the survey on the rate of non-earnest responses and the withdrawal rate. As a result, we found that the percentage of non-earnest responses was lower when respondents answered the open-ended questions at the beginning of the survey than when they answered the open-ended questions at the end, that the withdrawal rate from the survey was higher, and that there was no significant difference in the content of the open-ended questions.
