Polling is a periodic data collection, and thus there are some problems that it may drop changes in a shorter period of time than a polling interval, incur high load, and so on. In order to solve these problems of conventional pull-based data collection, network telemetry using push-based data collection has been proposed. All implementation issues for network telemetry are, however, unclear. To this end, we have designed and implemented a push-based data collection system based on the existing pull-based data collection infrastructure, AX-NM (AX-Network-Manager), produced by ALAXALA Networks Corporation, Japan. In this prototype implementation, we have focused on collecting the data necessary to identify where the terminals are connected.
