The EU's digital public policy (e.g., Single Digital Gateway Regulation, Open Data Directive, Data Governance Directive, Interoperable Europe Act), involves ensuring interoperability in the public sectors. The Data Act for facilitating data sharing and its use, the Digital Market Act for creating a competitive environment in the digital market, and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for personal data protection also have instruments to promote interoperability. However, the interoperability required by each of these regimes is not always clear and often causes a rather technical and specific debate.
