On the other hand, edge servers have poor resources compared to cloud servers, so the resources of edge servers will become scarce when they are needed if the number of users increases in the future. One of the solutions is to borrow and lend resources among edge servers, but this solution causes a delay in execution because the borrowing and lending of resources are done when a resource shortage occurs. Therefore, we propose a resource borrowing and lending method based on the prediction of server resource utilization. The proposed method predicts the peak resource demand of a server in a predefined period, and then identifies the resources that are likely to be in excess or in short supply during that period, and borrows or lends those resources in advance. Compared to the methods that do not use prediction, the proposed method increases the number of tasks that can be processed without delay even when resources are in short supply.
