As one of our attempts, this paper addresses the automatic generation of explanatory text from flowchart images in patents. The construction of an explanatory text generator consists of three steps: (1) extraction of text strings from flowchart images, (2) creation of data for machine learning, and (3) construction of an explanatory text generator using T5. In this study, we constructed an explanatory text generator from images using 11,188 flowchart image-explanatory text pairs.
