SIMD 命令やベクトル命令は,データレベル並列性を明示し,制御あたりの処理可能量を増加させる.しかし,これらの命令は一般の命令と異なる命令形式を持ち,複雑な命令体系や専用のレジスタを必要とするため,導入の機会は,想定されるワークロードの傾向によって限定されてしまう.一方,命令間の距離でオペランドを指定する ISA である STRAIGHT では並列性や規則性を扱う処理において,オペランド表現の規則性が高いことが観測されてきた.そこで本論文では,STRAIGHT においてリピート命令という新たな命令を提案し,より効率的に並列性や規則性を抽出する命令セット拡張手法を実現する.リピート命令は,直後の命令をある規則性に基づいて繰り返す効果を持つ命令である.本論文では,STRAIGHT コード中でのオペランドの現れ方に注目し,実用的なプログラムを記述するのに便利な,ストライド値指定を持つリピート命令の詳細仕様を策定する.また,規則的な命令列をリピート命令でまとめるためのコンパイラアルゴリズムを明らかにする.さらに,並列性を活用可能なマイクロアーキテクチャを想定して性能評価を行った.シミュレーションによる評価では,行列積演算を用い,リピート数が 4 の場合だと約 45% にまで実行命令数を削減でき,実行性能は約 2.24
