• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: 筆者は言語学の出身だがはやくから医工理学系の先生方に指導をうける機会があり，共同研究の機会も多かった．わけても古井貞煕先生をリーダーとする「話し言葉工学」プロジェクト (1999-2003) にサブリーダーとして参加して『日本語話し言葉コーパス』(CSJ) の設計と実装を分担したことは，その後の私の研究人生を決定づける出来事だった．私自身の研究はさておき，今日ふりかえると CSJ は 21 世紀における国立国語研究所の研究活動に強い影響を及ぼし，結果的に日本語学の領域にコーパスベースの研究を定着させる契機ともなった．昨今文理融合の標語が流行しているが，「話し言葉工学」プロジェクトは文理融合研究が成功裡に運営された先行事例であったと思われる．

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: Though being educated as a linguist, I have had opportunities to be guided by scholars in the fields of medicine, physics, and engineering. The Spontaneous Speech Processing Project (1993-2003) led by late Professor Sadaoki Furui, in which I was involved as a sub-leader responsible for the construction of the Corpus of Spontaneous Japanese (CSJ), was the most influential on my research life. My research put aside, the CSJ had a crucial influence on the research direction of the National Institute of Japanese Language and Linguistics in the 21st Century, thereby providing a momentum for the establishment of corpus-based analysis in various fields of Japanese linguistics. The Spontaneous Speech Processing Project, it seems, was a precursor to what is called the “fusion of humanities and sciences” today, and a case of high success.
