A typical digital LDO with a fixed clock frequency suffers from a trade-off relationship between the power consumption and the control response. To overcome this trade-off, adaptive clock frequency based techniques are proposed. To realize high current efficiency across a wide load current range, clock frequency needs to be tuned by several orders of magnitude. In this paper, we discuss adaptive frequency clock generator and the control mechanism. We then discuss the stability of such digital LDOs with wide-range frequency modulation.
