In the proposed method, the first transmitted acoustic signals are used to estimate the location of the microphone, which is then reflected in the second transmitted acoustic signals; therefore, the spot directed to the microphone can be generated instantaneously. As the signals consist of mutually orthogonal sinusoidal waves, multiple spots can be generated simultaneously. Additionally, by overlapping multiple spots, the shape of the spot is controllable. Experiments using four commercial off-the-shelf speakers showed that our proposed method could generate adaptive spots rapidly.
