The product model incorporates attribute-oriented modeling in order to represent a given designer's knowledge. Moreover, to directly reflect designer's intentions, we have introduced the Product Model Description Language (PMDL) with which a designer can transscribe his knowledge by himself. PMDL is based on object-oriented modeling and features concepts and mechanisms specific to mechanical design.
