the evolution of terrestrial broadcasting services, NHK is advancing research on the integrated content distribution architecture using broadcasting and broadband communication. And then, as its receiver side technology, NHK is studying the basic design of the gateway that converts broadcasting to communication. This enables viewing on various terminals, as well as seamless transition of broadcasting and communication content. We organize that the basic role of this gateway is to loosely couple the demodulator in the receiving system with other functional elements, and to convert broadcast signals into a highly interoperable distribution method in order to provide content to various terminals.
