The first topic relates to studies of inter-language and developmental differences in audiovisual speech perception. It is known that visual articulatory information from the face of a talker influences hearing speech. Our studies have shown that native speakers of Japanese are subject to smaller visual influence compared to native speakers of English and that so are small children compared to adults. These cultural/linguistic or developmental differences have been found not only in speech perception experiments, but also in eye tracking and neuroimaging measures. Moreover, our recent study demonstrated that the cultural/linguistic differences are apparent early in life, starting from infancy/toddlerhood. The second topic relates to our endeavor for activating brain of children and older adults through musical instrument training. We have used the keyboard harmonica (melodica) to do intervention to novice participants. In one study, school children showed improved verbal working memory after 6 weeks of instrument training. In studies on healthy older adults, participants showed improved episodic memory or verbal working memory after 3 to 4 months of instrument training. These results suggest shared resources between linguistic and musical processing.","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_4_biblio_info_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌情報","attribute_value_mlt":[{"bibliographicPageEnd":"1","bibliographic_titles":[{"bibliographic_title":"研究報告音楽情報科学(MUS)"}],"bibliographicPageStart":"1","bibliographicIssueDates":{"bibliographicIssueDate":"2021-06-11","bibliographicIssueDateType":"Issued"},"bibliographicIssueNumber":"2","bibliographicVolumeNumber":"2021-MUS-131"}]},"relation_version_is_last":true,"weko_creator_id":"44499"},"id":211511,"links":{}}
