HAp crystal orientations were evaluated by using the X-ray diffractometer. As a result, the distribution of longitudinal wave velocities in axial direction in the left third metatarsal bone was different from that of inflamed bone. The velocity was very low in the inflamed area. The distribution characteristics of HAp crystallites orientations was similar to that of wave velocities. In addiation, the correlation between wave velocities and integrated intensities of HAp crystal orientations was high.
