Testers have different backgrounds, technical perspectives, and mindsets from those of developers, so the testers can detect different kinds of defects from those detected by the developers. On the other hand, it is often necessary to comprehend the test base without knowledge on the internal structure and behavior of the software. Test experts comprehend the test base from software usage scenarios and environments, which are not described in the specifications. However, their comprehension strategies have not been studied well.
