A distributed database sytems is an attractive component to organize a distributed application system. Fot this purpose, DREAM provides major transparency functions necessary for distributed processing. Any application program in DREAM can access any database without knowing its location. Because DREAM and REAM adopt standard SQL for their database language, no changes are needed for their executions in either environment. This paper introduces DREAM from the viewpoint of the network environment. Then the architecture and implementation of DREAM are described.},
