The chicken-and-egg issue persists because the most commonly reasons for that are “Price reductions are not achieved.”, ”Installation and operation are tough for users“ and “No killer contents”. This issue is not only Local5G in Japan but also internationally Private5G. Therefore, some leading vendors have withdrawn from the market, and some vendors downsized the Local5G business due to focusing on other business. On the other hand, some remaining vendors challenge to implement 3GPP specifications and proprietary features that are unlikely to be utilized in MNO for the time being, and take on to provide the contents that truly shines with Local5G. Especially, these include URLLC/RedCap, TSN-aware, and the indoor location (positioning) service. However, these are high challenges for vendor side and user side, and both vendor and user keep checking about technological rationality and economic rationality more than ever. I will share regarding the “disappointments and hopes” of challengers through our work.
