Particularly in the field of Sanskrit philology, the significance of examining stylistic, grammatical, and lexical features of related documents as part of textual criticism has long been recognized. The use of searchable text databases has greatly enhanced methods of criticism. However, existing databases rely on manual data entry by researchers, resulting in quantitative limitations. To address this issue, the project “Devanagari OCR and Sanskrit E-Text Archive” was undertaken from 2020 to 2021. This research involved collaboration between scholars with expertise in Sanskrit philology and OCR technology developers. The team worked on developing AI-powered OCR to automate text data collection and improve OCR accuracy. This presentation is based on the outcomes of the aforementioned project and will disclose some of the results of the ongoing project launched in 2023, titled “Applied research towards practical use of Devanagari OCR and utilization of text database”.}, title = {デーヴァナーガリー写本OCRの開発―展望と課題}, year = {2025} }
