 note = {近年のイントラネット環境の普及によって，企業内情報システムの基盤としてのデータベースシステムの重要性がますます高まってきている．なかでも，データベース応用の一つとしてデータウェアハウスが注目を集めている．このような大規模データベースシステムを構築する際，データを格納する二次記憶装置が低価格化しているとはいえ，そのコストは無視できない．本稿では，データベースの格納にかかる二次記憶領域の削減を目的として，関係データベース管理システムが元来提供しているビュー機能を利用したデータベース圧縮手法を提案し，圧縮されたデータベースに対する更新操作の処理方法について述べる．また，この手法を実現する際に考慮すべき問題点について論ずる．, Along with the recent popularization of Intranet environments, database systems are becoming more important as the core of enterprise information systems. Especially, as one of the most attractive database applications, data warehousing receives much attention. Though secondary storage such as hard disks has become inexpensive, we cannot disregard the cost of secondary storage when we construct such a large-scale database system. In this paper, aiming at reducing the storage cost, we propose a database compression method which utilizes the view mechanism provided by relational database management systems, and we describe the way to process update operations on compressed databases. We also discuss several issues on implementing our proposing method.},
