 note = {意思疎通が困難な ALS 患者等が質問を受けたとき，回答を Yes / No で伝える，近赤外光利用の意思伝達装置の研究を続けてきた．今回，Yes / No では答えられないオープンな質問に ALS 患者が単語で答える実験をした．具体的には単語のうちの母音 （最大 3 母音） を患者が発信し，介護者がその母音を母音辞書に入力して，単語候補を検索する．その中から質問に適した単語を介護者が選び，それらの単語を患者が Yes / No 回答で決定する．実験では，意思疎通困難な 4 名の ALS 患者に，家族がオープンな質問をして，患者が単語を発信し，家族が納得できる回答を得ることに成功した．, We have been studying a Yes / No communication aid utilizing near-infrared light for almost completely locked-in ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) patients. We report here the successful results of an experiment, for four patients as subjects, on expressing a word for each of open questions that are not answered by Yes / No. Each subject selected vowels (max 3) contained in the word they wanted to express in a sequential way using the Yes / No aid, then his/her caregiver entered them into a software which showed candidates of the word having those vowels. The caregiver selected words appropriate to the question, read them one by one, and the subject decided the word using the Yes/No aid.},
