• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: 本論文では結果集合を圧縮することでDBMS の応答時間を改善できるかを調査した結果を示す．オープンソースのDBMS であるPostgreSQL に圧縮機構を導入して実験した結果，結果集合を圧縮することにより，通信環境が悪い場合には応答時間を最大で11 倍程度短縮できること，及び通信環境が優れておりデータ転送量が少ない場合には圧縮により性能が劣化してしまう事実が示される．

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: This paper investigates the effect of compressing result sets for response time on DBMSs. We implemented a compression architecture on PostgreSQL and conducted experiments. The results showd that (1) the compression accelerates the response time at most 11 times compared with conventional architecture and (2) the compression degrages the response time when transmission facilites are well prepared and the amount of transmission data size is small.
