80 kW を超えるような計算機の超高密度実装は,設置コストの低減および超高バンド幅低遅延通信に有効であるが,既存の空冷システムや液冷システムでは冷却能力が不足することによる実現性の問題が存在する.そこでわれわれは,水の中に計算機全体を水没させる冷却技術を応用することにより,ラック当たり 80 kW を超えるような計算機の超高密度実装の実現性について検討する.具体的には,相変化時の高い蒸発熱を利用して計算機を一定温度に保持する冷却技術を提案し,さらに,発生した蒸気を利用して発電を行う水没発電について検討を行った.サーバの冷却に使用した水から発生した低温蒸気を発電に使用した場合の冷却効率を,実在するスクリュ式蒸気発電機をもとに評価を行った結果,140 ℃ の高温動作可能なサーバボードを仮定すれば PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) 0.933,さらに 160 ℃ の高温動作可能なサーバボードを仮定すれば PUE 0.925
