In inputting data, copyright regarding input data may be a problem. According to the Copyright Law in Japan, Article 47-7 (Reproduction, etc. for data analysis) is established as one of the limitations on copyright. Similar provisions are already established or are being considered for introduction even in the legal system of other countries. In particular, in EU, revision of the European copyright directive is under consideration under the digital single market strategy, and one of them is the introduction of rights restrictions related to machine learning. In this paper, we review overview situation and discussion situation in the European copyright directive. Therefore, in this paper, we reconsider the purpose of Article 47-7 of the Copyright Law.
