To support typical master-worker grid applications such as parametric search, OmniRPC provides “re-initialiable remote module” that defines “initialization” procedure to send and store data to a remote executable at invocation time. Once a remote executable is invoked, it is re-used for the next call by keeping the connection to the remote executable. We assume that a typical grid consist of several clusters. For a cluster with private network, a manger process running the server host relays the communications between the client and the remote executables, and multiplex them with one connection to the client. It also enables the client to use more than a thousand remote hosts. OmniRPC supports a local environment with rsh, a grid environment with Globus, and remote hosts with ssh.
