Some games, including Settlers of Catan, involve the use of maps whereby a certain instance of game is played on. These maps, while they play a significant role in a game's balance, are often randomly generated in board games, resulting in imbalance. In this paper, we discuss automatic generation of balanced playing maps for the game of 'Settlers of Catan'.
