As awareness of fetal movement depends on the subjective judgment of thepregnant woman, it can take time for primipara women, who are experiencing pregnancy for the first time, to be able to discernfetal movement. Therefore, rather than having pregnant women monitor fetal movement, a method of measuring and observingfetal movement objectively is required. While monitoring has tended to focus simply on the presence or absence of fetal movement,the actual site of fetal movement in the abdomen has not been investigated. Measuring not only the presence or absence of fetalmovement but also data on the site of fetal movement can provide findings for the early detection and treatment of fetalabnormalities. In this study, we showed a fetal movement scanner that can objectively measure the site and intensity of fetalmovement by having multiple pressure sensors placed throughout the abdominal region.
