In this method, a signal is input at a node of a given network, and the signal propagates through the network and returns to the input node through various routes. The returning signal at the input node, which is called a response signal, can be thought of as the response of the network to the input signal. The response signal can be used as a representation of the structural characteristics of the network. The paper also describes experiments using artificial networks for verifying the effectiveness of the proposed method.
