In this paper, we discuss a historical sketch of the study on optical flow since Horn and Schunck proposed their approach of global optimization. And we introduce our original approach of a generalized gradient-based method and related studies, which enable to evaluate optical flow under nonuniform and/or non-stationary illumination.
