Our team, a distributed team of over 10 researchers and developers in six countries, has encountered multiple technical issues in the development and deployment of a Node.js based web application to enhance the automation of the design of Cloud Solutions. This paper provides an overview of the goals and uses of our Cloud Solution Design Tool known as COOL, and presents the six major categories of technical challenges we encountered and how we overcame them. These areas include: application reliability, serviceability/maintainability, functionality verification, development coordination, and usage reporting. It is our belief that this information will be useful to other development teams. |
