In this study, we propose the use of androids, whose physical features resemble humans, as salespeople in the real world. We conducted a field study to investigate whether androids could sell goods through conversation with customers in a department store. As a result, android sold approximately 4300 dollars for 10 days. We consider that the subjective and emotional messages from androids could persuade customers to purchase goods. Then, we conducted a lab study to investigate whether the android could transfer these messages effectively in a controlled situation. As a result, we found that the existence of the android is important to transfer emotional and subjective messages effectively.
