In general, a player at the lowest place should select a strategy that can obtain higher scores, while a player at the first place should select another strategy to win faster than the other players. This paper proposes a new method for single-player mahjong,that can change the strategy by changing the value of one parameter. It is based on the Monte-Carlo method proposed by Komatsu et al, and it uses two metrics as a reward in playouts, one for getting higher scores, and the other for winning faster.
