In e-learning systems, it is common to have the functions of measuring student learning status, such as access rates and access durations. However, they are limited, and it is still difficult to understand the detailed learning status of students. Teachers, therefore, expects that e-Learning can acquire more information about students. For these reason, toward the detailed learning status acquisition in e-learning system, we explore the gaze detection by using a single web camera which is now widely spread or integrated in many note PCs. In our approach, an eye area is extracted from a face area image, then the gaze is detected based on the eye area image.
