However, it is difficult for them to employ advancedfunctions such as ``circulating a mail in a group of members'' or``cancelling an already sent mail''.  Mail circulation can create alarge delay if any of the group members is unable to process the mailin time and thus degrades the performance. So, the situation of therecepient side should also be considered. To overcome these issues, wepropose a Flexible Asynchronous Messaging System (FAMES) by adding twomajor functions to the traditional distributed E-mail system.  Theadditional functions are (F1) an adaptive service configurationfunction, and (F2) an intelligent messaging function}.  In this paper,we present the design and implementation of FAMES by agentifying itsfunctions on a multi-agent based system environment.
