The ``e-office'' provides the shared text messages that are displayed near video snapshots of other workers. The intent of authors was to let a group of distant workers use this message function to exchange his/her schedule with other workers so that they easily know the adequate timing to commence communication via phone call or E-mail to their co-workers, and communication between them may increase. However,during an in-house experiment we found that workers use a text message function to facilitate an informal communication, and the display area of message communication became the ``place'' to put various types of messages. After we were aware of this fact, we started to record a message log and analyzed its contents.
