In our previous work, we have proposed a TDMA slot assignment protocol which considers the autonomous behaviors of nodes and utilizes the channel bandwidth effectively in ad hoc sensor networks. In this paper, we extend the protocol to keep the channel utilization high in an environment where nodes have different communication ranges. The extended protocol prevents the inconsistency of the slot assignment information by considering the directions of wireless links with the neighbors when each node assigns a slot to itself. Furthermore, we verify the effectiveness of the protocol by simulation experiments.
