<dc:description>We investigated the sense of body ownership of the third and fourth ears (virtual ears) which are virtually attached to the back of the participant’s avatar’s neck when positioning the sound source in the first-person virtual space. We aim to improve the sense of body ownership of virtual ears by 1) changing the volume of the sound source and 2) providing a tactile sense of vibration using a vibration motor attached to the back of the participant’s neck in response to movements of A) putting one’s hand on virtual ears and B) moving one’s head. The results showed that auditory feedback of volume change and vibration feedback in response to the two types of movements to the virtual ear increased the sense of body ownership of the virtual ear. On the other hand, there was no interaction between the two factors of auditory feedback and vibration feedback.</dc:description>
