<dc:description>In recent years, the medical big data consisting of electronic medical documents such as medical claims and medical checkup data has been accumulated in Japan. These data would be used for medical policy making, medical management, clinical research, and drug discovery. In this study, we examined the relationship between addiction and psychiatric disorders and between addiction and neuropsychiatric drugs using sampling datasets from the National Database of Health Insurance Claims and Specific Health Checkups of Japan (NDB), which is medical big data provided by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. It was investigated that some patients with addictions, such as alcoholism and nicotine addiction, showed hign levels of concomitant of some neuropsychiatric disorders and noncommunicable diseases.</dc:description>
