• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: パームトップは情報の表示画面をペンで直接タッチして操作する、携帯型の個人用情報管理ツールである。本稿ではまずパームトップの機能と設計に当たって考慮したユーザインタフェースについて述べる。その後、一般に個人が使うことのできる情報の形態について考察し、将来はそのような情報を扱うための装置は相当の大きさにならざるを得ないことを予測する。このような装置は、持って移動することは極めて困難なことになるので、本体の代わりにリモートコントローラだけを持ち歩くことになる。このような、個人情報の管理装置でもある情報リザボアが今後普及するかどうかは、利用者と情報提供者の双方が適正利益を享受できるかどうかにかかっている。

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: The PalmTop Computer is a personal mobile information management tool with which the information on display can be manipulated directly by pen operations. In this paper, we first present the user interface to which we paid special attentions while designing the PalmTop Computer. Next we consider the nature of the information handled by personal base, and derive a prospect that the device might become a considerable size impairing its mobility if we implement just the way. So we conclude that instead of carrying the device containing the information itself, people will carry a remote controller of the vast information storage or information reservoir. We think whether that kind of society will be a reality depends whether both the user and the information provider could enjoy an appropriate amount of profit.
