• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: 日本の製造業の中心的存在としてその牽引役を果たしてきた大企業が，一般家庭への普及をも視野に入れた人間あるいは生物の形をした非製造業用のロボットを続々と開発し，国内だけでなく世界的にも大きな社会的インパクトを与えた．まだまだ絶対数としては少ないものの，ロボット産業のマーケットについても大きな変化が起こりつつある兆ではないかと思われる．人間を相手にするロボットはどんなものでも，人間の心や感性との係わりを持つことになる．つまり，それらのロボットには単なる機械的機能の実行能力だけでなく，コミュニケーション能力や生命性（Life/Human/Animal-likeness ）も要求されることになる．本講演では，筆者らが人間とのスムーズなコミュニケーションの実現へ向けて1990年代中盤より開発を行ってきた人間型頭部ロボットについて，その周辺状況のなども含めて述べることにする．

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: In this report, the authors have developed an anthropomorphic head-eye robot which can communicate naturally with a human. We present results on the robot ‘WE-3R IV’(Waseda Eye No.3 Refined IV) having new functions of ‘the olfactory sensation’ and ‘expressing its facial color’ and expressing its emotions based upon “Equations of Emotion” through facial expressions and neck motions.
