内容記述 | Suggested by the mechanism of the brain the first author previously proposed an algorithm for pattern recognition called the "Neocognitron". It has an ability to recognize patterns without being affected by distortions in shape or by shifts in the position of the input pattern. Using this algrithm we have made a program for micro-computer which can recognize handwritten numerals. One numeral can be recognized in about 8 to 35 seconds by our system. This shows that the amount of calculation is not so large and that we can build a system which works with reasonable speed if we make a special hardware for this purpose. | |||||||
