• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: 聴覚障害者の重要なコミニュケーション手段である手話を画像認識する研究が必要とされている。手話は、手の形、手の位置、手の動き方の3つのパラメータで規定される。本稿では、これらの1つである手の形の認識の第一段階として、動きを伴わない日本指文字の認識について検討する。ここでは、まず、日本指文字の画像特徴について述べる。次に、細線化画像を用いて手指の2次元的形状特徴を抽出し、その特徴をもとに日本指文字の構成要素である手型と手の向きを判断することから指文字を認識する方法を提案する。最後に、実験により本方法の有効性を示す。

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: This paper describes a recognition method of Japanese manual alphabet without motion. First, the features of Japanese manual alphabet image are described. Second, a recognition method using thinning image is proposed. In this method, the features of fingerspellings are extracted from thinning image and silhouette image, and fingerspellings are recognized by these features. Finally, the experimential results is presented.
