• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: 電子メールを利用した機械翻訳システムについて報告する．いくつかの機械翻訳システムが既に商品化されている．しかし，機械翻訳システムは翻訳を業務としない一般の人にはほとんど利用されていない．これは現在の機械翻訳システムの質が充分でないということもあるが，それ以前に手軽に機械翻訳を使えるような環境がないために使用したことがないという人がほとんどである．多くの人に機械翻訳を利用してもらい，データや意見を収集し研究開発にフィードバックすることを目的として電子メールを使用した機械翻訳システムを作成した．本稿では，電子メールを利用した機械翻訳システムについて，その特徴や構成について述べ，実際の運用から得られた知見を述べる．

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: This is a report on the machine translation system that we have developed for use with electronic mail. Some machine translation systems are already commercialised; however, presently few non-professionals use machine translation systems. One reason is that the quality of machine translation nowadays is not adequate. But the main reason is that there are few people who are in an environment where they can use a machine translation system. We developed a system for use with electronic mail so that many people could use it, and so that we could collect data and opinions, and thus receive feedback for research and development. In this paper, we describe tha characteristics and the composition of the machine translation system using electronic mail and describe the findings obtained from actual operation.
