• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: 今後、いろいろなサービス応用として展開していくであろうビデオ・オン・デマンド等のデイジタルAVサービスについて、そのサービスの情報群の円滑な相互流通と、システム群の幅広い相互接続とを図るために、Digital Audio?Visual Council（以下DAVICと呼ぶ）の活動が始まっている。このDAVICの総会が12月4日（日）から12月7日（水）まで、東京の早稲田大学内の会場で開かれた。19ヶ国、119機関からの259名の参加者が、DAVICから10月に発行されたCall for Proposalsの求めに応じて提出された約80件の技術提案の審議を行った。提案の詳細な評価分析作業は、次回会合までの技術委員会の活動に委ねられたが、概ね企図した通りの活動が進められた。これらの提案をもとに、今後、来年の12月を目指して、技術標準の作成が加速されることになる。

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: The Digital Audio-Visual Council (DAVIC) has been established to publish an effective set of interoperable standards which will enable various kinds of multimedia information to be utilized among a lot of retrieval and distributing systems like VOD and for a numbers of VOD like systems to be connected with others. The DAVIC had the Fifth Plenary Meeting in Tokyo during Dec. 4th and 7th. The 259 Participants from 119 organizations of 19 countries discussed the technical papers responding for the DAVIC Call for Proposals issued in October '94. The Technical Committees started to carry out the detailed analysis and evaluation for the input papers by the next Plenary Meeting in January '95.
