| 内容記述 | ブックメタファは、ビデオ・静止映像・音・文字等の情報を含むマルチメディア電子本を初心者が簡単に作成および閲覧できるツールである。本報告では、コンピュータをあまり使いこなせない人に対して、WWW上で情報を読みやすくするビューアとしてブックメタファを用いる方法を紹介する。ブックメタファを用いれば、目次や各項目が一元的に並ぶため、階層を意識する必要はなく、また、前進と後退の操作だけで情報を閲覧できる。コンピュータ上で文書を閲覧する際のブックメタファの有効性を検証するため、ブックメタファと一般的なWWWブラウザとを用いて、マルチメディア情報をコンピュータ上で閲覧する効率を比較する認知実験を行った。その結果、ブックメタファを用いれば初心者でもページめくり操作のみで閲覧できるため、文書全体をコンピュータ上で閲覧する際に特に有効であることがわかった。 | |||||||

| 内容記述 | The book metaphor is a hypermedia database system with a book-like user interface. We have been creating electronic on-line manuals with this system up to now. Browsing data through the book metaphor is easy for novice computer users. When such users browse WWW data, they tend to be obstructed by the style of the HTML viewer and the rapid movement to other nodes in the data structure. This paper proposes that the book metaphor be used in a WWW data viewer. By using this viewer, users can scan the data using only forward and backward operations: they don't need to be aware of the underlying hierarchy, because the table of contents, data pages, and index fall in a linear progression. This paper examines the effectiveness of the book metaphor as a WWW data viewer. | |||||||
