• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: 視覚障害者を取り巻く情報アクセス環境の現状を議論した後，Webが視覚障害者の新しい情報源になり得るかについての可能性を考察する．次に，視覚障害者が現在どのようにインターネット/Webを利用しているかについて報告し，今回，筆者らが研究開発した非視覚的Webアクセスシステム「ホームページ・リーダー」の特徴を述べる．「ホームページ・リーダー」は，数値キーパッドによるコマンド操作や音声斜め読み機能，音声ヘルプ機能が充実していること，およびHTMLタグを必要に応じて音声変換していることで特徴づけられる．本稿では，「ホームページ・リーダー」の特徴を詳細に述べ評価を行なった後，今後の課題をまとめる．

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: After discussing the potential of the Web as a new information resource for the blind, we describe the current methods whereby blind users access the Web. We then give an overview of a user interface of a nonvisual Web access system that we have been working on. The system is characterized by the use of a numeric keypad for Net surfing, a quick reading method using text-to-speech and converting HTML tags into voice data. After evaluating the system and offering some conclusions, we discuss plans for future work.
