| 内容記述 | マルチメディア通信の基盤として，双方向CATVが注目されているが，本予稿では，双方向CATVの環境を利用した大学と地域社会の間の通信実験を報告する。広島市立大学は，市内の中心部から離れており，大学から市民への情報提供は，何らかの通信網に頼らざるを得ない．インターネットなどのコンピュータネットワークを通しての情報発信はWorld Wide Web (W)などで行なわれてきているが，まだ、地域社会において一般的であるとは言い難い。本実験では、地域エリアの網のひとつであるCATVに着目し、その双方向性がどのようなものかを認識することができた。 | |||||||

| 内容記述 | We used a two-way cable system which was expected to be one of the infrastructure of multimedia communication, for communication between a university and the local community. The Hiroshima City University is detached slightly from the residential area of the city, and we need some kind of tool for communication with the local community. The Internet could be a candidate, however, it is yet to be popular enough to be used in a local community. We looked into a cable system as a metropolitan area network, and tried and used to see what a two-way cable system is like in terms of a metropolitan area network. | |||||||
