Hover input operations on smartphones have attracted attention from the viewpoints of expanding interaction and contactless operation. The detection mechanism to enable hover input on smartphones is only equipped in specific models, and a special attachment is required for general models. In this study, we propose a method to estimate the hover input operation by capturing the image of the reflection of the smartphone screen light on the cornea with a built-in camera. The proposed method takes advantage of the fact that the part of the smartphone image reflected on the cornea covered by the user’s finger is missing as a shadow. In this paper, we conducted experiments to verify the accuracy of the proposed method. |
