| 内容記述 | コンピュータ関連技術の飛躍的な発展により，最早ホストコンピュータによる一極集中の情報処理は価格対性能比，システムの開放性・柔軟性，適用業務とシステムの形態的親和性など様々な側面から終焉を迎え，コンピュータシステムのダウンサイジングが叫ばれて久しい．ダウンサイジングは分散型コンピューティング環境を実現するものとしても大いに期待されている．現在ダウンサイジングに関する問題点が様々に指摘されているが，これまでダウンサイジングとデータベースに関する議論はほとんどされていない．本パネルではそれを行ないダウンサイジング環境下でのデータベース構築・管理・運用の問題点を探る． | |||||||

| 内容記述 | Because of the tremendous progress of computer and its related technologies, the modern computer systems have achieved low cost per performance, high open ended characteristics, and distributed computing environments so that the traditional way of computing with a central host computer system has been lost its meaning. This has been called the "downsizing" of computer systems. Although a lot of discussions about downsizing technologies in general have been done widely, but quite a few discussions has been done about "database" issues. This panel focuses on how to organize, manage, and use databases under the downsized computer environment. | |||||||
