• 論文抄録 / 内容記述: 近年，国内在住の外国人に対するやさしい日本語を使った情報提供に高い関心が集まっており，実際，このようなサービスがいくつか提供されるようになってきている．本稿ではこのような外国人へのニュースの提供を目的としたやさしい日本語の書き換え原則を提案する．これは先に提案されているやさしい日本語の書き方を整理，拡張したものであり，対象は中級準備レベルの日本語能力を持つ外国人である．本稿ではまず書き換え原則の構成法と具体的な内容を報告する．書き換え原則は汎用的な部分，外国人の能力に配慮する部分，ニュースに特徴的な部分で構成してあり，新たな分野のやさしい日本語を検討する場合に参考にしやすいようにしている．次に，中級準備，中級，上級の3レベルの日本語能力の外国人留学生を対象にしたニュースの読解実験によって，提案する原則がすべてのレベルの外国人に効果的であったことを示す．なかでも中級準備レベルの外国人への効果が大きく，元ニュースの読解テストの平均正解率が72%であったのに対して，やさしい日本語のニュースの正解率は90%に達していた．これは彼らがほぼ全内容を理解できたことを示している．また詳細な分析により，やさしい日本語は元のニュース中で長く複雑な表現で書かれた内容の理解に特に効果的であったことを示す．

• 論文抄録(英) / 内容記述: The idea of offering information in simplified Japanese to non-Japanese speakers has attracted keen attention in the last decade. In this paper, we address the problem of simplifying Japanese news scripts, and present guidelines for carrying out this task with news scripts targeted at Japanese learners of pre-intermediate ability. We describe the compilation policy and details of the approach. The guidelines comprise three parts: rules applicable to general genres, rules tailored to Japanese learners' language competence, and rules for news-specific expressions. We then report on reading comprehension tests conducted with non-Japanese students learning Japanese. Tests were administered for three Japanese proficiency levels: pre-intermediate, intermediate and advanced. We used multiple-choice type questions to check participants' word- and phrase-level understanding of the original news scripts. Analysis revealed that the simplified texts were effective for all levels of test takers and were especially helpful for pre-intermediate students. For the original news, the average correct answer ratio was 72%. This figure rose to 90% for questions regarding the news in simplified Japanese. The simplified texts were most helpful for the pre-intermediate level students when answering the phrase-level questions.
