内容記述 | In Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) networks the traffic control design becomes an important challenge becauseof the diverse services support and the needfor an efficient network resource engineering.Two of important functions for traffic control in ATM networksare policing and routing.The goal of these two functions is to guaranteethe required quality of service and increase the networkutilization. All previous studies have treatedpolicing and routing in a separate way.A combination of policing and routing can guaranteea better quality of service and network utilization.So far many network control strategies have been proposed but they are not well suited for high speed networks.To cope with rapidly changing networkconditions the traffic control methodsfor high speed networks must be adaptive flexible and intelligent for efficient network management.Use of intelligent algorithms based onfuzzy logic neural networks and genetic algorithmscan prove to be efficient for traffic control in ATM networks.In this paper we propose an intelligent policing-routingmechanism which is based on fuzzy logic.Performance evaluation via simulations shows thatthe proposed mechanism performs better thanconventional policing mechanisms.Furthermore by using tagging function and handling the traffic of violation cellsthe network utilization is improved. | |||||||
