An open source program Crafty is used as a fair implementation of chess programs. Two kinds of experiments are presented. The first one is self-competitions, and the second one is solving a collection of chess problems. The first results show that the winning rate of an optimistic player with 4 base programs against the original one is 60%. The second results show that the rate of correct answers with the standard search depth 8 increased from 59% to 67% using optimistic consultation algorithm with 16 base programs.
